Pendred wished to take the Story fight on 8 days notice after Brazilian opponent Erick Silva failed to secure a visa.

UFC 188 marked a win for Cathal Pendred over Augusto Montano to add to his impressive UFC record of 4-0.

But the ex rugby star still has a lot to do to prove his doubters wrong, after the controversial victory over Sean Spencer, and Montano's questionable tactics in his last encounter.

Former Belvedere student Pendred planned to do this after Erick Silva was forced to pull out of his scheduled June 27th fight with Rick Storey, and the SBG fighter wanting to take the fight on 8 days notice.

Have a U.S passport no visa required. Haven't stop training after 6 week camp in Mexico. Will fight @Rick_Story on 8 days notice. @danawhite

Still no word on what's going on from my end, I will fight anyone next weekend I'm ready. @Pendred if you're the man, you're the man!

But Pendred didn't get his wish and his hopes were dashed after Story tweeted.

Just got word I'm off the Florida card. Sorry guys, I wish I could fight. I'm ready to go if anyone gets injured.

I didn't get the Story fight. I'm ready for anyone though. I feel I wasted a lot of time & money to just chase someone for 15 mins last week

We’re sure the Punisher will be back in the Octagon sooner rather than later.
